ACU Jim-Baa-Yer Resource Centre

Wurundjeri storytelling flows through the river-waterflow symbol and at Australian Catholic University ACU's Jim Baa Yer Resource Centre, it is expressed in the timber and in a sculptural slump-glass artwork by Wathaurong Glass and Arts. That concept came not from us. It came from the community. In deep conversation with the JBY user group, we listened until the right idea emerged. Then we designed it.

Cultural identity was not applied after the design was resolved; it was the reason the design existed at all. Every decision, functional and spatial, was grounded in what the community needed.

One institution. One community. The same starting point: genuine listening. The architecture follows from that. It always does.
