Paradise House – Design led by place
At 75 Paradise Drive, St Andrews Beach, we explored how architecture can be shaped by landscape, longevity and intent.
The site
A rare triangular allotment at the end of Paradise Drive, bordered by the Mornington Peninsula National Park. The site offers ocean views and preserved native vegetation, but it is also a coastal environment that demands restraint. We resolved the plan and roof geometry to capture long water views, shelter from prevailing winds, and sit naturally within the dune landscape.
Materials and endurance
We selected materials that endure coastal conditions: copper, steel, glass and concrete. Robust and quietly expressive, they develop patina and texture over time, anchoring the home to its place while refined detailing ensures long-term durability.
The spatial experience
Inside, the home balances openness with refuge. Spaces frame horizon lines, choreograph light throughout the day, and blur the line between inside and out. The result is practical, resilient and beautifully resolved. A home that feels inevitable to its context.
Paradise House has been internationally recognised and featured on Extreme Houses USA, Great Australian Sandcastles and Better Homes & Gardens. The project reflects our belief that architecture should enhance how people experience the world around them.
